87 Malibran Pavilion, Malibran Gardens and Place Fernand Cocq
[Social spaces]
As part of the participatory design process, the wish to restore the physical and visual link between public space and the Malibran Pavilion strongly guided the landscape redevelopment of Place Fernand Cocq. This was achieved by reopening an urban perspective onto the pavilion, a true heritage jewel, and by making the Malibran gardens — formerly enclosed and separated from public space — accessible again through the restored stairways directly connected to Place Fernand Cocq. In addition to explaining the project, the visit also highlights the artistic interventions on Place Fernand Cocq that honour the singer Maria Malibran and her tragic fate, including aria excerpts and the Malibran fountain.
In collaboration with ARTER Architects.
