130 Evere’s traditional community bread oven

© Fournil HTM

[Food history] [Intangible heritage]

The bread oven at the Evere mill was built by residents with the help of the association Fournil de l’Hof ter Musschen. A group of local people keeps it alive by regularly welcoming those who wish to bake their bread there. Baking becomes an opportunity to meet, talk and build connections around the oven. The activity highlights a remarkable place: the Evere mill, now the Museum of Food. The involvement of residents, both in building the oven and in organising the baking sessions, gives full meaning to an approach centred on quality food, shared experience and social ties. It is also an opportunity to discover how the oven works and the recurring activities offered throughout the year.

The workshop is given in French and runs continuously on Saturday from 12:00 to 16:30 (maximum 30 participants at the same time). Residents will bring the bread to be baked.

In collaboration with Fournil de l'Hof ter Musschen asbl.
