Located in the historic centre of Brussels, the Museum of International Falconry immerses visitors in the world of this ancient art, recognised as UNESCO intangible heritage. Unique in its kind, the institution, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the United Arab Emirates, presents collections of rare and old objects — tools, manuscripts, paintings — within a carefully designed scenography. The museum explores contemporary falconry in our regions, its long history and the way this tradition has reached the present day. In the time of the Southern Netherlands, Brussels was an important hub in the falcon trade. Falcons have not been forgotten: they appear in the Ommegang and now nest again in Brussels, notably on the left tower of the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula and in several other places across the city.
