Step 1: The explorer’s eye

In this first part, children discover art in Brussels’ public space: murals, sculptures and installations. Through short explanations and moments of observation, they learn that these artworks do more than simply make the city more beautiful. They also tell stories, invite us to think about how we use space and form part of everyday life. The workshop encourages children to look at their city differently, with curiosity and imagination.

Step 2: The child as creator of the landscape

The children then imagine and create their own artwork for public space. They choose a place in the city and think about how their creation could fit into it.

It shows that the city is a living heritage, shaped by architecture, art and the people who live there. By creating something themselves, children learn to better understand this heritage and make it their own.
