In the north of Brussels, this walk unfolds like a discreet thread linking gardens and memories, through a series of parks that seem to answer one another in silence. Once jealously guarded by Leopold II’s Royal Donation, these places have gradually opened up, offering their paths to slow walkers and curious visitors.
Sobieski Park, the Florist’s Gardens … Their names still whisper echoes of another time, between discreet splendour and forgotten uses. Opposite the Royal Palace of Laeken, the memorial to Leopold I stands still, a stone memory anchored in the landscape. A little further on, a chapel with transformed functions hints at shifts in the sacred, while a former barracks turned school tells, in its own way, the slow metamorphosis of these places. Almost without noticing, the route returns to the entrance of Sobieski Park. The loop closes, and the parenthesis gently comes to an end.
