Embassy of the People’s Republic of China

A. de Ville de Goyet © urban.brussels

The first Embassy of the People’s Republic of China was opened in 1973 on Boulevard Général Jacques/Generaal Jacqueslaan. In the late 1970s, China bought a huge plot of land along Avenue de Tervueren/Tervurenlaan, where it erected a large building to house its diplomatic services.

As well as cookery, calligraphy, painting and paper craft workshops, as well as  introductions to traditional dance, the Embassy will be screening a documentary on China's cultural and natural heritage. A specific workshop will be dedicated to the making and tasting of mooncakes. Folkloric music is to be performed. Two exhibitions, one about the immaterial heritage of Shanghai, the other about the Chinese-Belgian cooperation, will be shown.
