265 Agricultural and market-garden Woluwe-Saint-Pierre: a representative Brussels case

From the Neolithic period to the early 20th century, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre was a rural municipality of farming and market gardening. It returned to this status during the two world wars. Sheep in Woluwe Park and along the avenues, narrow streets crowded with carts of manure, prosperous farms: all these elements left their mark in street names, artworks, postcards and photographs of a municipality whose past still shows through in the landscape today.
During this lecture, historian Geneviève Lacroix will revisit this rural history and the traces it has left in the territory of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.
