The pronounced relief overlooking Malou Park below, along Boulevard de la Woluwe, was once known as the Groenenberg and later as the “rabbit hill”. It was only in the 20th century that it became urbanised, and in a striking way: between 1963 and 1977, at the initiative of Habitation Moderne, nearly 300 social housing units were built there, spread across sixteen buildings, including an imposing tower that dominates the ensemble in a clearly Brutalist style. Dating from 1968, the tower was designed by architect Charles van Nueten. Since then, the Mont-Saint-Lambert tower has become one of the most recognisable silhouettes in the municipality’s landscape. As a symbol of 20th-century modern housing, it raises questions about collective living, verticality and the place of the individual in the city. From its summit, the view is spectacular, offering a unique way to discover Woluwe-Saint-Lambert.
