110 1826–2026: La Maison des Arts celebrates its 200th anniversary

In 1826, a family of cloth merchants had a country house built. The house soon took on the character of a château, home to four successive generations. After the death of Viscount Georges Terlinden, the municipality of Schaerbeek purchased the property in 1950. It became a place of exchange around contemporary art: La Maison des Arts. For 75 years, visitors have discovered its bourgeois salons, artistic projects and hidden garden. The building is now listed, and the ground floor has been restored. The exhibitions bring this former family home into dialogue with contemporary artistic projects.
The house will be open for self-guided visits from 10:00 to 18:00 to discover the exhibitions. Guided tours are also offered on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 (FR), 11:30 (NL), 12:00 (FR), 12:30 (NL), 14:00 (FR), 14:30 (EN), 15:00 (FR), 15:30 (NL), 16:00 (FR), 16:30 (EN) and 17:00 (FR) (duration 45 min, maximum 20 people per departure).
