[Social spaces] [Work in progress]

Entering LionCity in Molenbeek today means crossing a place where several periods coexist. The former Delhaize site, located between the railway and the canal, was part of the industrial network that shaped the district from the 19th century onwards. Its warehouses and production halls reflect a logic of efficiency and logistics, while still strongly shaping the spatial experience of the site.
Pending definitive redevelopment, LionCity is temporarily occupied under the direction of Entrakt. Workshops, a parkour hall, a café, a second-hand shop, the Delhaize Museum and other cultural, social and economic initiatives now inhabit these robust buildings. The industrial character of the place remains visible, while new uses anchor it once again in the city’s everyday life.
This transitional phase acts as a testing ground: how can a former production site become a lively and meaningful place within its neighbourhood again?

For the Heritage Days, LionCity II will highlight the industrial and social heritage of the former Delhaize site. The Delhaize museum will be accessible through guided tours organised in collaboration with Korei Guided Tours.

Visitors can also freely discover a selection of posters, archival photographs and a catalogue tracing the history and evolution of the site, presented in the museum and at Bar Leo, partner of the event.

A guided tour in French Belgian Sign Language is offered on Saturday and Sunday from 16:15 to 17:15. Reservations, only for this specific tour, are made here. For standard guided tours, please use the booking module at the bottom of the page.
