Programme
Walk
74 La Fonderie in Old Molenbeek and its parks
[Neighbourhoods]
In 1982, the French Community acquired the abandoned site to house La Fonderie non-profit organisation, the area planned for a youth hostel and the land intended for the park. Conceived as a coherent whole, both a place of passage and communication, this triptych is now deprived of any direct public link. For specific events, certain doors open, allowing those who know the area and the merely curious to explore freely and ask questions.
During this walk, these usually closed doors will open, revealing the interweaving of the territory through squares, streets, buildings, gardens and residents. This makes it possible to understand a district once imagined and then realised in practice. The route reveals traces of the historical, sociological and economic evolution of the urban landscape through current projects.
In collaboration with La Fonderie, as well as Café de la Rue, Génération Europe Youth Hostel and Les Voisins du Parc de La Fonderie.
