Parckfarm is an experimental project that has become a sustainable living place, where ecology, citizen participation and everyday use come together. It grew out of the transformation of L28 Park, laid out on former railway tracks that once served the Tour & Taxis freight station.

The large complex that developed following the expansion of the Port of Brussels at the end of the 19th century consisted of a series of vast warehouses, built between 1903 and 1907 on former marshland. As customs practices gradually changed, the facilities became obsolete. In 2001, the site was acquired by Project T&T, which set its redevelopment in motion.

Originally conceived as a temporary installation for the Parck Design 2014 festival, Parckfarm gradually took root in the neighbourhood thanks to the active involvement of residents. The project’s evolution illustrates the transformation of Brussels’ landscape from an industrial zone into a green meeting place full of activity.

This activity traces the story of Parckfarm, from the first meetings with the festival curators at Momo’s café to the design and construction of the installations, carried out hand in hand by architects and local residents. The visit will wrap up with a little wild tasting at Parckfarm.
