The “Jette dairy farmers” once lived in this Brabant-style farm. Although it was bought by the municipality in 1934, they were allowed to continue living there free of charge and to pursue their activities until the 1960s. In the early 1980s, the idea emerged of creating a place where children could be made aware of respect for the environment. This was how the educational farm came into being. From 1981 onwards, a few activities were organised in difficult conditions and with very limited resources, thanks to the dedication of three volunteers. It was only in 1985 that the current non-profit organisation was created and the small farm in Petite rue Sainte-Anne could regularly welcome its first classes. In 1986, the municipality signed an agreement with the “Ferme pour Enfants” association, entrusting it with the farm buildings and four hectares of land — field, meadow and orchard. Shortly afterwards, the Region added around five hectares of meadow to the land already made available. Since then, six professional facilitators have welcomed groups of children every day. Open days are organised in May and September.
