193 Forest-Vert and Messidor: two garden cities to discover

[Neighbourhoods]

Forest, a municipality with an industrial past, became interested early on in the question of workers’ housing. In 1922, the magnificent garden city known as Forest-Vert was created: a socially mixed ensemble of small apartment buildings and individual Art Deco houses, surrounded by lanes, small squares and gardens. Messidor garden city, designed in 1952 for employees of the Ministry of Finance, reflects a later phase in the design and location of modest housing in Brussels.

In collaboration with ARAU.
