What if you looked at the Grand-Place differently?
On the top floor of the Brussels City Museum (Maison du Roi), with a privileged view over the Grand-Place, children and adults are invited to observe and decode one of Brussels’ most emblematic landscapes. Why does the square look the way it does today? Who built its houses? How has it evolved over the centuries?
Through images, anecdotes, observation of the façades and playful activities, the workshop traces the construction of the Grand-Place, its transformations and its sometimes surprising uses. Participants also discover how this exceptional heritage site is studied, restored and protected today, particularly as part of its UNESCO World Heritage status.
Designed as a family experience, this workshop invites children and adults alike to learn to look at the Grand-Place differently and perhaps notice details they have never seen before.
The workshop is designed and led by Alison Inglisa, an architect specialising in heritage, in collaboration with the City of Brussels’ Historical Heritage Unit and the Brussels City Museum – Maison du Roi.
Family workshop for ages 9 and over. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Booking is required for every participant, both children and adults.
