Rock, paper, scissors: Art Nouveau crafts in Saint-Gilles / Sint-Gillis

A. de Ville de Goyet © urban.brussels

This walking tour will focus on the various crafts and trades that contributed to the success of Art Nouveau.

Compared with Art Nouveau heavyweights such as Horta and Hankar, the craftspeople who worked on their teams have been sidelined and often forgotten. Yet without their skills and talent, architects would not have been able to build and decorate the magnificent houses that adorn the streets of Brussels.

On this tour, visitors will get to admire some outstanding work carried out in iron, stained glass, wood and stone, accompanied by an in-depth analysis of the many crafts and trades involved.

In cooperation with Brussels Chatterguides.
