Nestled in a broad green setting at the heart of the city, La Cambre Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery founded in the early 13th century. Its ensemble — church, cloister, convent buildings and gardens — tells several centuries of religious, artistic and landscape history in Brussels. Between park, place of memory and monastic architecture, the site forms a true landscape within the city, where buildings and vegetation respond to one another.
For this occasion, the public is invited to discover the church and cloister, as well as an exhibition presented in the cloister. It brings together archives, plans and garden development projects, helping visitors understand the evolution of the site and the way its spaces were conceived, transformed and preserved over time.
The programme also reveals the abbey’s particular atmosphere, between heritage, gardens and contemporary uses. On Sunday afternoon, a musical animation will complete the visit.
