42 How to read the urban landscape? The Royal Quarter
[Neighbourhoods]
This family-friendly guided walk of 2 km in the heart of Brussels sharpens the art of looking. Starting from the Mont des Arts, a true balcony over the city, the activity playfully decodes the landscape markers that shape the identity of the Royal Quarter. It focuses on the monumental perspective of Rue de la Régence, a major historic breakthrough linking Place Royale to the Palace of Justice.
Using observation tools such as viewing frames and mirrors, participants learn to read the built landscape and its vertical perspectives. The walk shows how deliberate urban planning created sightlines and emblematic panoramas. An interactive experience for the whole family, designed to highlight material heritage and the very structure of Brussels’ urban space.
In collaboration with Le Tamanoir.
