The Halle Gate is the only surviving medieval city gate in Brussels. It is also recognisable by its neo-Gothic roof and wall walk, added in the 19th century by architect Henri Beyaert. In 2025 and 2026, the ensemble was closed to the public for a major restoration campaign. From September, the upper spaces of the Halle Gate will finally reopen.
For the Heritage Days, a guided tour dedicated exclusively to the building will end on the wall walk. Visitors will once again be able to admire an exceptional panorama over Brussels: between Altitude 100 and the Atomium, the hill of Saint-Gilles, the promontory of the Palace of Justice, the Senne valley, winding medieval streets and broader modern arteries all come into view. The entire Brussels landscape unfolds. The Heritage Days thus mark a key moment in this reopening.
