Partly listed in 1994 and saved from demolition in 1998 thanks to the company Maison de la Radio Flagey, the former building of the National Institute of Broadcasting (INR) has carved out a new destiny for itself, in keeping with its fascinating history.
In 1930, the creation of the INR marked the end of radio’s pioneering years. The development of this medium called for the construction of a contemporary broadcasting building. Following a competition launched in 1933, the jury selected the design by Belgian architect Joseph Diongre.
The project combines architectural research with technological solutions meeting the strictest acoustic and technical requirements. Its originality also lies in the attention given to welcoming the public, the refinement of its details, the choice of materials and the original furnishings, designed specifically for the profession.
