145 The Centenary Axis, at the heart of Heysel and the 1935 and 1958 World Fairs

Deeply marked by the two World’s Fairs held there, the Heysel plateau has been organised for nearly a century around the perspective of Boulevard du Centenaire. This walk follows that axis to explore the past, present and future of this major pole of urban development in the Brussels Region. Along the way, it takes in remains of the 1935 and 1958 exhibitions, including the former tile counter pavilion, the Atomium, the Exhibition Palaces and Osseghem Park, designed by landscape architect Jules Buyssens. At the end of the route, the view rises to reveal a remarkable panorama over the capital.
This walk includes exceptional access to the Atomium's panoramic sphere.
