252 Rouge-Cloître and Trois-Fontaines in the time of Charles V’s hunts

Rouge-Cloître, a key site in the history of the Sonian Forest, hosted the great hunts of Charles V, his family and honoured guests in pursuit of deer, wolves and wild boar. Artists of the time left magnificent testimonies, notably in tapestries, which help compare the forest of the 16th century with that of today. History, politics, plots, gastronomy, art and nature are all on this hunting menu, alongside the misadventures of poachers imprisoned in the castle-prison of Trois-Fontaines.
This walk takes you from one site to the other. Both places can also be visited freely before or after the walk, without prior booking: the Rouge-Cloître Art Centre from 13:00 to 17:00 and the Château des Trois Fontaines / Maison de l’Autisme from 10:00 to 17:00, on Saturday and Sunday.
