[Food history] [Intangible heritage]

In Anderlecht, Vinaigrerie Sainte Odile opens its doors onto a rare craft that was long part of Belgian and European food heritage before almost disappearing. This guided visit follows the thread of a discreet yet essential form of know-how: slow fermentation, gestures handed down over time, and living ingredients that transform wine, beer or other bases into vinegars full of character.

The guided visit immerses visitors in the history of vinegar in Belgium and in the natural production methods that have shaped its authentic taste. Among barrels, demijohns and explanations of the long-standing links between brewing and vinegar-making, it reveals a world where patience, precision and the memory of taste come together. The visit ends with a tasting of artisanal vinegars, offering a chance to rediscover the aromatic richness of a product too often reduced to a simple condiment.

A guided tour in French Belgian Sign Language is offered on Saturday from 16:45 to 17:45 and on Sunday from 13:00 to 14:00. Reservations, only for this specific tour, are made here. For standard guided tours, please use the booking module at the bottom of the page.
