It isn’t every day that a brand-new multifunctional district gets designed, one that in 20, 40 or 50 years’ time may be held up as a shining example of 2020s heritage.
The RTBF building and tower have defined the Reyers neighbourhood since the 1970s. Today, the entire area is being redeveloped around the Mediapark project.
The reconfigured district will boast a 10-hectare park, housing and amenities such as a nursery and health centre.
Its centre of gravity is the new headquarters of the French-speaking public broadcaster RTBF: a building using cutting-edge technologies, both in its architecture and in its facilities and equipment. This will be very open to the neighbourhood and its residents, with anyone able to enter the building and enjoy the open space and restaurant.
