Life, assembled

© Élodie Degavre

A housing estate made of steel that is the talk of the neighbourhood. Small lightweight houses designed by their future buyers. A modular construction project entrusted to students. In Brussels, Liège and Charleroi, three architects and a handful of bold residents would make their ultimate dream a reality: modular housing, accessible to all! Fifty years after creating their prototypes, the four now elderly architects take the director on a tour of these unusual homes. In this course of this uplifting journey through time, a crucial question emerges: what about us, how will we live in the future?
Life, Assembled, featuring Jean Englebert, Simone and Lucien Kroll and Paul Petit, won the Audience Prize at the Brussels Art Film Festival in 2022 and the best screenwriting award at the Rijeka History Film Festival in 2023.
It will be screened at the International Centre for the City, Architecture and Landscape (CIVA) on Saturday 14 September.

Come and find out what Élodie Degavre, the film’s writer and director, has to say and put your questions to her at a meeting after the 17:30 screening.
