Brutalism, back in vogue?

© pro velo

Born in the 1960s, brutalism has left its mark on the city with its off-form concrete façades. In Brussels there are some fine examples of this style, which is very widespread in towns like Louvain-la-Neuve and is now coming back into favour among architecture enthusiasts. Get on your bike and follow your guide from Auderghem/Oudergem to the city centre on a journey back to the origins and philosophies that moulded this architectural style into the Brussels landscape. Enjoy an excursion through the streets of Brussels to rediscover the context that saw the birth of this unique movement.
