Triton swimming pool

The construction of the Triton municipal indoor swimming pool, opened in 1979, spelt the demise of the Evere Solarium, a leisure park built in 1934 featuring a heated outdoor Olympic-size swimming pool with diving boards (one of which was 10 metres high) and a grassy solarium. The Triton, designed by architects Rémy Van der Looven and Ray Huyghebaert, is simple and functional, and still retains its original features: brick walls, an all-glass façade letting in plenty of light for swimmers, and its blue and white cubicles. The facilities include a 25-metre swimming pool, a teaching pool, a paddling pool, a sauna, a steam room, a jacuzzi and a solarium. Unusually, there is also a shooting range in the basement, used mainly by the police but also by shooting clubs.

No photography is allowed inside the building.
