Folk dance workshops at the Liszt Institute Brussels
Following the success of the previous edition, we join forces again with Urban.Brussels and open our doors for the Heritage Days Brussels 2024. The stage of the Liszt Institute has as its background a part of the first encircling walls of Brussels. Nowadays only a few sections are preserved of The Fortifications of Brussels, the medieval walls that surrounded the city. One of this section is part of the Liszt Institute. Join us and discover the history of Brussels. To link the Belgian built heritage to Hungary, we bring to you a series of folk dance workshops, cultural heritage of Hungary. The Táncház (‘dance-house’) is a teaching method selected in 2011 by UNESCO on the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices. “The Táncház model of teaching folk dance and music combines traditional forms of acquisition with modern pedagogical and academic methods. Participants acquire dance knowledge from experienced members or tradition bearers by direct observation and imitation, to the accompaniment of live music, while using their own individual level of creativity to develop their competence and dancing ability.” A programme for children and adults alike, presented by the dancers of the Viola Dance Ensemble: Flóra Monzolai and Gergely Csendes.
