Performance / Walk

Brussels, its evolution, its revolution (1960s to today) (fully booked)

Have you ever thought about all the changes in Brussels that have led up to what you see around you and take for granted today?
We will delve into the city’s history from the 1950s to the present day, including the period of Brusselisation. On the agenda will be the drilling of the road tunnels for the Petite Ceinture/Kleine Ring (Small Ring), the opening of Brussels’ metro system, the too often overlooked ‘Battle of the Marolles/Marollen’, the new buildings which sprang up in the 1960s and 1970s and the transformation of the area around Bruxelles-Central/Brussel-Centraal station – with, as a nice little extra, a musician playing a piece of music for us at each stage of the walk!

In cooperation with Clap Culture.
