Walk

An expedition to historic elevators (fully booked)

Ascenseur Otis, Bruxelles, 1919 © Homegrade

During a guided tour in the city centre, the public is given the opportunity to take a look behind doors of private dwellings that usually remain closed in order to discover some remarkable historic elevators. The selected elevators, carefully integrated in the interior decoration of these buildings and often placed in the centre of the stairwell, are all in need of modernization and a technical upgrade because of evolving regulatory constraints. This event is organized by Homegrade, which is in charge of drawing up the inventory of historic elevators in the Brussels-Capital Region, with the support of the Cultural heritage department (urban.brussels). The inventory can be consulted online (elevators.heritage.brussels).

In cooperation with Homegrade.
