Guided tour / Conference / Meeting

A house for LGBTQIA+ people, a place to meet, fight and remember

Many LGBT+ associations were set up in Brussels during the 1980s, their members meeting at particular times and places to ensure that they could live out their identity in safety.

The umbrella organisation moved into a building in Rue du Marché au Charbon/Kolenmarkt in 2001, from where it spawned numerous other associations.

Their struggles and demands would also come together in Brussels Pride a few years later.

The RainbowHouse invites you to revisit these stories with historian Bart Hellinck from the Suzan Daniel Fund. He will talk, among other things, about Gonzague Pluvinage’s book Pride in the city. Meeting: Sat. at 14:00 (duration: 1 hour 30 minutes) Guided tours Sat. and Sun. at 10:00 and 11:30. The bar is open all morning.
