Heysel from the atom to plastic

W. Robberechts © urban.brussels

Everyone is familiar with the Atomium, symbol of the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair (Expo 58), but the Heysel/Heizel Plateau has undergone many changes since then. This semi-guided scavenger hunt will help you to explore them. After a guide has given a short introduction, you will wander around at your own pace, answering the questions in your roadbook. When was the King Baudouin Stadium rebuilt? What architectural style is Trademart? What does the artwork in Heysel/Heizel metro station, opened in 1985, represent? These are just a few examples of the multiple-choice questions you’ll be asked, interspersed with explanations of late 20th-century spaces, buildings and works of art. Halfway round, a second guide will be waiting for you for a short activity.

In cooperation with E-Guides.
