Espace Demey

Espace Demey was originally a postmodernist house and photography studio, built by architect Bernard Baines between 1988 and 1993. Its profile is characteristic of the late 1980s and early 1990s, with its interplay of materials, volume and colour. The façade features red and orange brickwork that emphasises horizontality through the contrasting alternation of colours arranged in strips, while the mix of narrow and wide windows helps give the building its unique look. In early 2000, architectural studio AC Lalmand carried out a major renovation of the house-cum-studio, converting it into offices for consultants. It is now a co-working space called Espace Demey after the nearby metro station.
