Walking along Boulevard du Souverain/Vorstlaan from the Centre Culturel d’Auderghem to the former Royale Belge headquarters, we will see how the municipality’s history is written in the architecture. The construction of Chaussée de Wavre/Waversesteenweg and Boulevard du Souverain/Vorstlaan opened up new neighbourhoods adjoining the Sonian Forest. The hallmarks of 1970s architecture are visible in public buildings, office blocks and housing,
while the more recent Herrmann-Debroux metro station and tram line 8 may well feature in heritage lists in the decades to come.
As for the viaduct, built in the early 1970s, there are plans to replace it with an integrated thoroughfare combining traffic lanes, a cycle path and a tramway.
Our tour will end at the Royale Belge headquarters, an iconic piece of corporate architecture that has now been converted for multifunctional use including offices, co-working spaces, a hotel, a sports club and a food market.

In cooperation with 91e Parallèle.
