The Anderlecht beguinage

Jonathan Ortegat © Maison d’Érasme

The entirely renovated beguinage is reopening its doors for the Heritage Days. The Anderlecht beguinage is a remarkable heritage site in Brussels as well as in Belgium. The building has been exceptionally well preserved, and in recent years, the presence of an old timbered construction dating from the beginning of the fifteenth century came to light, which was enlarged in the sixteenth century and finally partly preserved inside new traditional brick and white stone buildings that were erected mainly in the beginning of the eighteenth century.
