Urban Sketchers: getting together, pencil in hand

Encounters with others are a key part of the Urban Sketching experience. Urban sketchers capture everyday life by drawing on location and are inspired by contact with each other – whether they are drawing nearby or on the other side of the world, in reality or virtually – as well as with passers-by. Such meetings really bring to life their slogan: Showing the world, one drawing at a time.

This activity invites both seasoned sketchers and curious newcomers to pick up their pencils in and around Parvis de Saint-Gilles/Sint-Gillisvoorplein. In normal times, this bustling spot offers an array of interesting subjects, with its market ambiance, café life, architecture, and so on. But if the amenities are closed, we will use our drawings to document this bizarre period in which social life has been put on hold. The activities will be tailored to the health and safety rules in place: drawing alone or in dispersed groups, thematic tours, an Urban Sketching discovery trail, and so on.
