Encounters with Abbaye de la Cambre/Abdij Ter Kameren
An oasis of calm in the bustle of the city, the Abbaye de la Cambre/Abdij Ter Kameren site, centred on the buildings of an ancient Cistercian monastery, is a picturesque area steeped in history, as well as a hub for students from La Cambre National School of Visual Arts. You will wander through its gardens, laid out in the early 18th century as a series of five terraces, before moving on to the Ixelles/Elsene Ponds (Étangs d’Ixelles/Vijvers van Elsene), a popular spot for walkers, in order to fully appreciate everything that this hilly site and its architecture have to offer.
