Walking tour

See you at Grand-Place/Grote Markt!

Grand-Place/Grote Markt, Brussels’ central square, is not only a magnet for tourists but a ideal meeting place for the city’s residents. The steps of Maison des Ducs de Brabant/Huis van de Hertogen van Brabant, Brussels Town Hall’s Lion Staircase and the steps of Maison du Roi/Broodhuis all make perfect locations for a rendezvous with friends, before cruising the city center. During this tour, you will hear why this square has been, and remains, such a great meeting place, whatever the circumstances and time of year. You will also learn where soup kitchens were set up during the First and Second World Wars, where French writer Victor Hugo stayed while in Belgium, and why so many of the square’s buildings were guild houses in the Middle Ages.

In cooperation with the Association of Guides for Brussels and Belgium (GBB).
