The Neder-Over-Heembeek sports complex comprises a swimming baths complex, a sports hall and a martial arts hall.
The swimming baths complex, one of three falling within the area administered by the City of Brussels, is managed by non-profit organisation Bains de Bruxelles/Baden van Brussel. It is open seven days a week and welcomes over 170,000 visitors each year. Built in 1981 to a design by architects Albert and Marc Vanden Bossche, it has an aesthetic that is both brutalist and postmodern. The entrance to the building has been designed to be welcoming, opening onto wide-angled steps edged by a low concrete wall with trees behind. The red brick façades are livened up by square openings surrounded by projecting brick uprights, which add a dynamic touch. Inside, the swimming pools are lit by an impressive glass roof that floods the space with light. There is a café/restaurant/tavern housed in a remarkable glass structure resembling an indoor greenhouse, with multiple semicircular arches of red tubular steel.
The facilities are used by numerous schools and clubs throughout the year, with a wide range of activities including school swimming, aquagym, aquabike, swimming for adults and children, and diving. The baths comprise a large pool (25x16 meters) and a teaching pool (16x6 meters), a solarium (in summer), a steam room, a sauna and six bubble baths.

In cooperation with Brussels Chatterguides. No photography is allowed inside the building.
